A cystoscopy can be used to look for and treat problems in the bladder or urethra. For example, it can be used to: check for the cause of problems such as blood in pee, frequent urinary tract infections (UTIs), problems peeing, and long-lasting pelvic pain.

Community partners help improve and expand our services in so many ways! Comprehensive medical care for our low-income, uninsured neighbors is achieved only with the generosity and expertise of medical professionals and institutions throughout the community. Advanced Urology Institute in Largo has been the CFC’s exclusive source for urology referrals and diagnostic assessments for Clinic patients. Last year, urologists with AUI donated 18 cystoscopies for patients in need of this important screening and diagnostic procedure. Now, with a donated cystoscope and equipment courtesy of WestCMR, the CFC’s volunteer urologists have the capacity to provide these procedures at our facility. This capability will streamline the process for patients to receive these services. AUI has stepped up to assist in training our staff, allowing us to launch this expansion of our in-house urology services. Going forward, we will utilize our partnership with AUI for more complicated cases and procedures beyond our scope at the Clinic.
