New Case Management Position

Austin’s New Role at The Clearwater Free Clinic

We’re excited to announce that Austin, a recent graduate from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Social Work degree and a minor in Children’s Behavioral Healthcare, is joining The Clearwater Free Clinic full-time in a grant-funded case management position.

While at USF, Austin was an active member of the USF Social Work Society, which provided him the opportunity to volunteer extensively within the community. His passion for social work began during his time as an EMT at Sunstar Paramedics in Pinellas County, where he witnessed firsthand the impact of healthcare on individuals’ lives.

Austin is continuing his education with plans to pursue a Master of Social Work degree next year as a step towards his goal of becoming a psychotherapist. In his current role in the Behavioral Health Program, Austin is already making a difference by assisting patients with a wide range of needs, from government and disaster relief assistance applications to housing and transportation issues.

His work under the supervision of Laurie Deer as a case manager is helping address non-medical factors that affect health, showcasing our clinic’s expanded mission to focus not only on healthcare but also on the holistic health and well-being of our community. Austin’s presence on the team has already been invaluable, benefiting both patients and staff alike.

We are thrilled to have Austin’s continued dedication and passion as part of our team!
