Staff Spotlight: Janet’s Dedication to Clearwater Free Clinic

For the past six years, Janet has been an integral part of the Clearwater Free Clinic, wearing many hats and making a lasting impact on both patients and staff. Her journey at the clinic began in 2018 as a volunteer nurse in intake, where her compassion and skill quickly became evident. It wasn’t long before Victor asked her to help in the medication room, where she organized and streamlined processes, ensuring patients received the medications they needed.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Janet played a crucial role in adapting medication distribution to meet new challenges. She also became a trusted clinical support, assisting nurse practitioners with procedures, injections, EKGs, and wound care—her true passion in nursing. As her role evolved, she took over managing the Patient Assistance Program, growing it to provide nearly $3 million worth of medications to patients annually.

Always with a smile, Janet celebrating 2021.

Throughout her time at the Clinic, Janet found the most fulfillment in seeing the gratitude of the patients she helped. “You can tell that they really appreciate the hard work,” she shared. “They know what goes into it, and they’re just grateful they don’t have to navigate it alone.”

Her advice to new staff and volunteers? “Be personal, kind, and compassionate. Patients are here for a reason, and a simple smile can make all the difference.”

Now, as Janet prepares to move to Georgia, she leaves behind a clinic she deeply loves. “If I wasn’t moving, I wouldn’t be leaving at all,” she said. While she’s exploring opportunities in hospice care and possibly volunteering at a local clinic, she promises to stay connected. With family in the area, she’ll be back to visit—and she won’t hesitate to pop in to check that Clearwater Free Clinic is still running a tight ship!

Thank you, Janet, for your years of dedication, kindness, and commitment to our patients. You will always be a valued part of the CFC family! Wishing you the best on your new adventure in Georgia!
