Healthcare Opens Doors

CFC Community Impact

For 44 years, the Clinic has served as a safety net for countless low-income, uninsured families in our community who struggle to make ends meet and afford basic needs, even without the cost of health insurance. Many of those who need the Clinic’s care have let serious conditions go untreated, or have nowhere to turn for follow-up care.

However the world changes around us, access to healthcare will remain vital to the overall health and progress of our community.

The CFC’s doors will remain open to serve the underserved through the generosity of community partners, volunteers, and donors.

Meet Barbara

Barbara started searching for healthcare options in her community when she lost her job and insurance unexpectedly. The medication used to control her COPD became extremely expensive and hard to obtain without insurance, which often led to her using under the recommended dosage in order to make it last longer.

“If the free clinic wasn’t here, I’m not sure that I’d be here right now.”

Barbara suffered stress-induced cardiomyopathy which resulted in her being taken to the hospital. It was the follow-up care and medications she received at the CFC that led to her recovery.

“Now that I have my health under control, I’m
working to quit smoking which will be a huge deal.”

Currently, Barbara is attending Smoking Cessation classes at the CFC in conjunction with Tobacco Free Florida and she is hopeful she will soon be able to quit smoking.

“I know the tools and the resources I need are here.
