Pharmacy Receives New Upgraded Refrigerators

Funds from the Community Foundation Tampa Bay will go towards integrated mental healthcare at the Clearwater Free Clinic.

November 11, 2022 was a wonderful day of celebrating the CFC’s volunteers at our annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon at the Carlouel Yacht Club!

Clearwater, FL – On November 17, 2022, the Clearwater Free Clinic (CFC) dedicated its beautiful ophthalmology suite in honor of physician volunteer Dr. Louis Michaelos. Dr. Michaelos is credited for starting the Clinic’s eye program in 2002. With direction and support from Dr. Michaelos, a storage closet was equipped and transformed into the Clinic’s first dedicated eye room.

The Clearwater Free Clinic mourns the loss of long-time volunteer cardiologist, Dr. Muni L. Narayan, who passed away on Tuesday at the age 83. Having grown up poor in India, Dr. Narayan understood the necessity of providing much-needed medical care for underserved communities. His family stated that while in private practice, Dr. Narayan never refused a patient for their inability to pay.

The term posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) refers to a class of psychological disorders that may develop in people who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event.

The addition of the Behavioral Health program allowed the clinic to become a truly comprehensive medical facility with the ability to not only treat physical ailments but address the mental health concerns of our patients.
